So that’s what kissing your sister is like…

Brother killing brother for the profit of another
Game point: Nobody wins

Cain kills Abel

One step. That was the difference. One more step, and Laith Abushaar would have scored the winning run. As it happened, though, he was thrown out on a perfect relay and tag at home. So the Slackers and Sluggos tied, 25-25, after 8 grueling innings of playing in near-100-degree weather.

We won’t harp on the “Slack on Slack violence” that seems to plague the Burtuqalis, but it is worth mentioning. The step that Laith needed wasn’t lost because he was slow, or tripped, or ran out of gas. It was his hesitation, for just a second, that cost his team the game. Slackers’ 3rd base coach Walid Abu Hassan was sending him all the way. But the runner hesitated because his entire dugout disagreed with Walid—vocally. Laith heard the screams, stutter-stepped, then went for it.

Had his team kept quiet and let the coach do his thing, the Slackers would still be celebrating a rousing victory. They came back from 8 runs down in the bottom of the 6th to force extra innings, then held the Sluggos scoreless for two innings. Not easy to do. Some may hold the winning run at 3rd with only one out, but the way that game was going, I would have sent Laith home, too.

Update, 7:38 PM: I'm really upset about this whole tie thing. Just look at the standings, in the upper-right of the main page. No symmetry. How is an artiste supposed to abide? You have nice, neat columns everywhere else, and then BOOM, like a big, boiling, oozing zit on a pretty girl's face: this result ruins it all.

Let us not forget the great "ump the umping" that was going on during the game from the 2nd - 4th inning when it looked like the game was "guaranteed" to be a blowout. Sluggos will happily provide a shade umbrella along the first base line to keep the lively "our backs are to the game" clinic for the new umps. Umping by committe behind the plate "so whadda think, new guy?" Felt like right out of the movie "Naked Gun" with Leslie Nielsen umping the California Angels..... "STRIKE????" (Crowd goes nuts!!!!!) Mude thinks: "hey I'm on to something here... They like me, they really REALLY like me."

Not that we're bitter, ya hiawaan wasikh!!!!

Lemme see if I have this right. Noob umps are in the game, Sluggos build a big lead. Noob umps leave the game, Sluggos blow big lead. Sluggos guy complains about the noobs.

Shouldn't your complaint be the other way around? You should want the noobs to ump ALL your games.

But I suggest you finish this game on Aug. 3, the day you play your 2nd game against the Slackers. A double-header of sorts.

mude...

i thought you were smarter than that... you want symmetry, you should just have all the teams show their win-loss-tie records... doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.... (well I guess this time it did)... Anyways, standard practice is to have win-loss columns until one team ties, and then shift to win-loss-ties for all the teams...

hope that helps relieve your upset artiste urges... : )

it's more like brothers killing a whole team... I counted 12... yes 12 errors between the two brothers in the first 3 inning alone... I stopped counting after that... The slackers could win out (except for the last game of course) if they only changed things up a little... their lineup had everyone scratching their heads.... you guys need fast reliable hitters at the top of the lineup... and have the weaker batters batting behind some stronger ones throughout the rest of the lineup... also the infield keep complaining about the outfield and vise versa... why don't you guys switch it up a little? you cant do worse then you currently have been doing... the current infielders cant even throw the ball to 1st base 80% of the time (and that's when they actually do decide to make the throw over there).

I am rooting for you guys, but last weeks game reassured me that I made the right choice.

Big EZ, Big perm I don’t give a damm of all your blah blah blah. It is still to early to say that you made the right move wait and see. As for crazy Larry all I have to say is that you were lucky.
Foo foo, slackerslayer, lovie make your mind on one name . Can't wait for the rematch.

i have made the right move and the first two games proved it... it's not the records that confirm my decision, it's the frustration of playing with and watching the slackers play.. Stupid base running, uncountable amounts of bad throws to first, not knowing the situation when at bat or fielding... those are the things that drove me crazy... and so far all these things have been abundant for you guys in the first two games... that's where I conclude that i made the right choice.... I think you guys should be able to win all but one of the rest of your games... still won't change my thinking about wether or not i made the right choice...

Wazabi.... who are you?

Dont really have a creative comment to add but I do feel compelled to wonder WHY "Big Ezzzz" is so adamant at re-iterating his "right choice"!!! And my conclusion (coming from a psychological and subliminal apprach) is that you are so un-sure of your decision that you keep trying to convince and re-assure yourself every chance you get..Not easy being an outcast my "friend"..

On the other hand, great having your support and input in our dugout last game...
