Aging Players Syndrome

Actually pretty bummed out to see the slogs empty, very. Season's over, and most of us now have to figure out another Friday routine...another topic of discussion for Thursday nights between teammates and opponents...not hearing Walid screaming his head off on the field for at least another few months...not hearing Kevin talk his smack out on the mound...etc...etc...

Great season guys, gotta hand it to everybody for making it the best season yet. Now we just gotta hold on tight until December for Winter season. Although there should be some scrimmage games maybe even an "off season" tournament played in my opinion. I'm sure alot of people would be up for doing that.

Peace out, hope to see you guys off the field as well.

Great Season guys,

JoSox: Congratulations and well done. It will be your last season to win though, as next season is ours.

Nomads: Thanks for always underestimating us, or actually, overestimating yourselves.
Zaki: Great outfield plays
Massarweh: Thanks for the Jordan Cup.

Trojans & B&L: Good luck next season

See you all next season,

The Slackers

Mude:

If the tourney results supercede how the hell are the Trojans ahead of us...

Mr. Slacker:

I never underestimated you. I said you were an Offensive Superpower. I did underestimate your defense... and guess what ... I still do.

Good win.

Massarweh out forever.lol.

Mude Sartawi said...

Massarweh: The Trojans actually won a game during the Tourney. (You should try it some time.) And their loss was to the eventual champs, while the Nomads lost to the eventual runner-up.

All that supersedes what happened in the regular season.

Are you Rihani's agent? Trying to move your team up through complaining, so he only has to pay two teams 100 JD each? Pay up, Hot Pants. This is the end of the season, right?

To My Teammates:

I giye ya'll a huge "atta boy" for the season you all had.

Just like Mude said before we played the finals...some of you may be new, but we are the defending champs and we had to represent ourselves as such.

I am also proud of the way we just play ball together, no arguing amongst ourselves, or with the umpires (usually).

Brooke- What can I say?? It's ON for #6, we are working on the other hand now. :)

Mude- I like how you did the presentation at the end of the game--but why didn't you mention how many you had? YOU put not only the league together, but your knack for finding kick ass ball players, and running the team takes the load off Brooke & I to not worry about managing, a big THANK YOU Amo :)

Zaki- You had a great year both offensively and defensively it was fun to watch, except when we was playing you.

Massarweh- I ordered you a gag and a new hamstring, they should be here in time for winter league.

Trojans- You guys played well, even though your record doesn't indicate it, you guys are up and coming (no pun intended). Keep your team together and just fill in the holes and you guys will be there.

Maher- You call a good plate man, I don't care what anyone else says, I like it when you are behind the dish, hope you heal and come back for the winter.

To the rest of the league-We will be back and BETTER than ever before doin the "Monster Mash".

Definitely one hell of a season for all the teams, and all the players that were and weren't mentioned above.

Slackers Rep.:

Wouldn't be able to make those plays against you guys if it wasn't for your offensive power that hit them out their. You guys gave everybody a run for their money this season, definitely the team that had me running around the outfield the most lol

FooFoo:

Lookin forward to seeing you on the mound again next season with more trash talk lined up than every before haha About the D, glad to be of service, keep feeding them to me, yummy yummy haha

Massarweh:

You still talking smack man?!? Yifdah deenak shoo btehki, bas I love you no matter what haha Fellow Nomad forever

Neal AKA Cowboy:

Getting better and better every season I see. Two thumbs up, you put 110% out there. Must be all those "core muscles" you're working as you so eloquently stated.

Ghadeer:

Girl with the most spirit out there, not just because you're my wife but you damn do you try your best out there. Unlike some other girls out there that just keep yacking and complaining about absolutely everything (won't mention any names, one of them wears orange uhhmm)

Mude:

Great coaching, great umping, we appreciate everything you did out there. Of course there are times when we feel like charging you, but I won't go there.

Nomads:

Yet another amazing season with you guys, wouldn't have it any other way. Like the Braves say, "Keep Chopping"

Everybody else:

See you out there Winter Season

Cowboy:

I'm gonna have to second you on that and say nobody else was ready to do it not take the initiative, so why the hell not right?! For this league and for the creating the right atmosphere, I wouldn't even think about it twice.

We'll be waiting to see what this regiment does for you in the winter. By the looks of all the names you've mentioned, seems like you're turning to some "roids" arent ya buddy? lol

Mude,

The Nomads, should be in third place, and not the Trojans. I know that the Championship results supercedes the regular season, but since the Trojans don't play the Nomads in Championship, then it's unfair having the Trojans in third place.

Look at it this was, 5th place plays 4th place, so for sure you'll have a winner in that game, who will play the number #1 (Automatic 3rd place!!!). Ex. if the B&L have won that game, they'll be playing the Josox, which will automatically entitle them to be in third place!!! And the loser between (2nd and 3rd) us "Slackers" and the "Nomads" to be be in the 4th position regardless of the results!!!

In other words, its' a mistake in the championship schedule, especially, that there was no game played between the Trojans and the Nomads on championship day, and the final table (including the Campionship games) gives the Nomads a 5W 4L and the Trojans 4W and 6L, then the Nomads have to be in third place.

So please adjust the schedule to have the Nomads in 3rd place.

THanks,

The SLACKERS

I have not added my final thoughts to the season, and wont for the next few days. Too blazed!
However I will say this very quick: The Nomads, with all that smack talk during the season, and at the end of the season...are you guys really arguing whether you guys are in 3rd place or 4th? Numero Uno is what matters, numero uno, JOS SOX AWALAN!!!

It's funny how the Slackers are the only team to fight amongst themselves on the field, yet the only team to speak as one on the Slogs. Call it Orange Schizophrenia.

Since the two teams didn't play each other in the Tourney, we looked at playoff results. The Trojans went 1-1 in the Tourney, and the Nomads went 0-1. So, 1-1 is better than 0-1. Right?

Howevah, as with all controversial issues, we'll put it up to a captains vote. Karim & Massarweh say overall record should count if two teams don't play each other in the Tourney, while Saif says Tourney results only. Jawad and I will discuss the matter today, poolside (as all league business should be conducted). I'll get back to y'all with the booze-influenced results tomorrow.

Off to party...after dusting the perimeter with salt. ;)

Great season to all teams!

Mude: I love the countdown to the winter season tab you have posted on the homepage.

Kevin: thanks for the compliments and we should do better next season by working through our best lineup/ defense.

Slackers: I appreciate you going to defense for the Nomads, but don't forget that we actually had 1-1 results against the Nomads during play offs. I would possibly understand your point if we had lost both games to them during playoffs. There is no such thing as being fair at this point since these rules applied last season and were rather clear before we went into the tournament. We were in forth place during play offs and won a game during the tournament. Nevertheless, as said what matters is #1.

Peace,
Saif

Guys, it's simple,

Either The Trojans or the B&L will for sure play two games on tournament day, where for sure the looser from the Slackers or Nomads game (that is the Nomads of course) will only play one.

So Mude the 1-1 or 0-1 on tournament day doesn't count!!!

Because doing so, you're automatically entitling the number 3 spot in the standings to the winner of the 4th and 5th place game!!!! and the number 4 spot to the looser of the 2nd and 3rd game.

Sort of shocking to see all this controversy about who should be 3rd, 4th bla bla bla Come on guys, season is over, tournament results stand already and I don't think there's a need to vote to see which of the results are correct. Just my opinion. Best thing to do is probably have a special section in the blogs for season figures, tournament, etc... There's a few softball leagues out there that already do that, you can easily google them.

Anyhow, peace out, got some tacos to chow down on.

OK, "The Slackers"...Leave your name next time, because it's clear you're not speaking for the whole team, after all. A couple of your own teammates don't even agree with you!

Here's what Jawad thinks (paraphrasing):

We base the championship on the Tournament. So if #1 is based on the Tourney, every other position should be, too. You can't determine the top two spots using one guideline and the other spots using a different guideline.

Jawad added that he really wanted to vote against those $#&^! Trojans, but that it wouldn't be fair. So the vote is 2-2. I make it 3-2.

The Tourney trumps all else. If you want to finish higher, KEEP WINNING ON THE FINAL FRIDAY.

We'll talk about this raging, blazing controversy more during the captains meeting for Winter Season.

I'm curious, though: Why the hell is this coming up now? We've been doing it this way for SIX SEASONS!!! Seriously.

PS to Slackers last comment: 5/4 is not "guaranteed" anything, as it also depends on the number of teams we have. Besides, the #4 seed has won the entire championship before...twice.

Anonymous said...

Saif my friend, this is all bull, all i know is that I'm ready any day of the week to have a deciding game against the Trojans... who pathetically finished in 3rd, any day of the week.. Just let us know which Friday and we will be there...

And what the Slackers guy said was right, even if B&L beat the Trojans, they would have finished in 3rd with a 1 and 8 record... so technically when there is only 5 teams, its great to finish in 4rth or 5th, because if you just win that game, you are guaranteed 3rd...

Anonymous said...

Maybe the Nomads should play for the 4th or 5th spot in the Regular Season....

I'd actually put in my two cents if it wasn't a circus already. So with that said I'll refrain from commenting about that stuff.

The countdown I have to say just gives an extra edge to the slogs and just gets everybody yearning for the Winter Season. Everything about the regular season this past season just goes to show that its getting alot more competitive out there than it used to be. I say regular season because the tournament results really didn't differ much from last Winter, which pretty much explains Massaraweh "snoring" over on the mic hahaha

Summarized predictions for next season's team performances:

Slackers: Louder than ever dugout and still going. Same strong offense, and with some practice focusing on defense...even stronger and harder to beat. My suggestion though is for anybody umping home plate to make use of an ear plug or two. Whether its the dugout roars or the constant buzzing coming from right around the "catcher's area" generally speaking...they might come in handy.

Trojans: Much better than last Winter season, both offensively and defensively. Only exceptions to the improvements are fielding and throwing errors. We're all guilty of such, but the Trojans just need to always keep track of who's on base, and when to throw to who. No, "who's not on first" I meant, WHEN to throw to who.

B&L: Obviously lots of potential, and I mean lots. Each individual is capable of hitting and fielding, definitely lots of talent. My opinion, grouped together on the field the chemistry just isn't working to combine all that potential into a win. With some coordination on the field among each other, and some improved batting in order to put more numbers on the board...given those 2 are fulfilled, most definitely an improved B&L for the Winter Season.

JoSox: Same power they were last season and the one before, shall I go? Probably not! Even with The Gunny and Shuk gone, still the same ability and teamwork we've seen numerous occasions and shouldn't be underestimated. Only difference come Winter Season is the unoccupied seat at second base, we miss you Shuk, I promise. Wouldn't hurt to pay us a visit in the Winter.

And of course...

Nomads: Lots of trash talk in previous seasons? Yes. Continued trash talk in the upcoming season? Ofcourse. Team with an amazing spirit and too much potential to even list in detail. Much improved defense over last Winter Season, proven with ease. Defense, well...when the entire roster is present for a game, all is well with the exception of a few errors here and there. However when a few key players are missing, Nomad's defensive strategy just goes haywire. Key for the BOYS IN RED to tear it up in the Winter Season: Practicing in-game situations and improving the sub's defensive skills in order to avoid any surprises should there be a player or two missing. Other than that, KEEP ON CHOPPING!

How about having yer OF hit the cut off man instead of showing off the "BB Gun" and allowing the runners to move up a base or two--I SO LOVE THAT....

Keep showing off that noodle arm Zoubi and even I will run on you...

Zaki: Wait till winter...we will be LOADED more than ever before and I don't mean drunk.

Massarweh: If ya'll are looking for a 3rd baseman...Abdo wants to play and he will be 18, I won't just put him on any team...IF you want him lemme know.

FooFoo: I don't doubt that at all, most of the time you've been on the dot when you claim something.

I'll have to agree with you on the cut-off. I got chewed out and tamed for doing that so I've settled down now, no problemo. Can't say that goes for everybody else, even on the other teams, still see it happening all the time. Or how about those meaningless throws to 2nd or 3rd and letting the runners have their way out there? Unreal

I'm gonna answer on Massarweh's behalf because that doesn't even need a second thought, WE'LL TAKE HIM haha Not 100% sure if its 3rd the whole time for him though considering we like Rihani on 3rd. Can he play other spots in case we need to rotate from time to time? I'm guessing he can from coaching him at one point and seeing him play. Any other boys from that bunch willing to play?

Noodle arm me that's funny fofo and u running that even funnier, While we are at it you need to work on your ground balls man or at least not playing catch with the center fielder trying to go to 2nd base big guy. Having said that go trash talk with the other guys fofo don't bring me in this.
